I've been trying to make buying a house make sense since 2022... And I have yet to figure it out. When we lived in New Hampshire, the homes within a reasonable commute to my job at the time were in the $500-600k range to start. I did quite alright as a gym manager after commission, but didn't make that much. Then we moved to the Midwest in 2023 and homes are much more affordable. That's cool and all, but my credit score was anything but cool after moving and various job gaps, so I spent the last few years fixing that. And now that my score is considered very good... I decided to spend some time yesterday planning out a house purchase to work towards now that I'm back to work... The 2 things I found out were disturbing:
Crazier still, I could transfer my rental lease to a significantly bigger home for less than buying this one, which seems like the smarter plan moving forward. I'm still working towards renting property from the government instead of a landlord... But the way it's all set up right now is nuts. And that's why I rent my house. In any case, I'm going to hit the garage gym, get content out there on X and Threads to bring new readers here with us, and have a good day off from work with my family.
